Jerry Don Godfrey, age 68 of Hempstead passed away on Tuesday, September 6, 2016. He is survived by his mother, Betty Dean Cockrell; stepfather, Clarence W. Cockrell; wife, Mary Godfrey; sons, Kenneth Lee Godfrey and wife Christina, Justin Godfrey and wife Hannah; Matt Varner, David Quint; daughters, Jennifer McEntire and husband Michael, Susan Knight and husband Michael; brothers, James Carlton Godfrey (Toddle) and wife Karen Sue, Jeff Cockrell; sisters, Janice Kay Challenger and husband Robert M., Linda Darlene Roberts and husband Winford, Kathy Jean Joliffe, Jo Anne Groat and husband Carl, Patty Smith; grandchildren, Jacob McEntire, Reece Varner, Cole Godfrey, Logan Varner, Caleb Godfrey, Lane Godfrey, Aaron McEntire, Tristan Knight, Sarah McEntire, and Savannah Godfrey. Jerry also leaves behind many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Viewing will be Saturday, September 10, 2016 at 10:00am at Pine Island Baptist Church, 36577 Brumlow Rd. Hempstead, Texas 77445. Funeral Services will follow at 11:00am, also at the church, with Pastor Tom Dobbs officiating. Interment will be held Tuesday, September 13, 2016 at 2:30pm at VA Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Drive Houston, Texas 77038.
